Get Involved with Boo at the Zoo 2025

Overview

Santa Fe College faculty and staff can support the 29th annual Boo at Zoo on Friday, October 31, by getting involved in one or more activities. Your department can be a part of this family-friendly community tradition that hosts more than 5,000 attendees annually.

Represent your department with a booth in the exhibitor zone

This is a great opportunity to reach community members who may not know everything Â鶹ԭ´´ has to offer. There is no cost for Â鶹ԭ´´ groups to participate. Â鶹ԭ´´ groups will be located in a new exhibitor zone, in the Â鶹ԭ´´ Gym parking lot. A map showing your location will be sent out the week of Boo at the Zoo. For questions, please contact christina.arnold@sfcollege.edu.

Exhibitors must set up by 1 p.m., and have their booth staffed from 2:15-7:00 p.m. Each exhibitor will have about two parking spaces (about 16 feet wide), a six-foot table and two chairs provided. It is highly recommended to bring a canopy tent. Exhibitors should have family-friendly activities or giveaways for the duration of the event.

Â鶹ԭ´´ groups must register via the linked form by Monday, Oct. 27 to secure a space:

Donate candy to give to Zoo trick-or-treaters

Donations of individually wrapped, unopened candy are encouraged, with each bag labeled with the donor's name, department, and phone number. Please refrain from delivering candy in single-use plastic shopping bags. When choosing candy, please note that the has information on purchasing candy from companies that utilize sustainable palm oil in order to help the future of White-handed gibbons and orangutans. Donations can be sent through campus mail or delivered to the ticket window between 8:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Please drop off donations by Wednesday, Oct. 29.

Carve or decorate a pumpkin to be displayed in the pumpkin patch photo spot

Come together as a department to do a team building activity or carve pumpkins yourself to be added to the pumpkin patch photo spot. Pumpkins can be dropped off at the Zoo’s ticket window between Tuesday, Oct. 28 and Thursday, Oct. 30. Pumpkins will not be returned following the event.

Volunteer for the event

Volunteers are needed to help direct guests, man stations, and support event activities between 2–8 p.m. If you have a talent that lends itself to entertaining guests waiting in line, let us know! If interested, please contact kara.sylvester@sfcollege.edu. Supervisor approval will be needed if it falls during a regularly scheduled work shift or you are a non-exempt employee.
