Baseball Drops Third Straight to St. John's, 5-2

Gainesville, FL – St. John's River State College defeated the Santa Fe Saints on Saturday afternoon in Palatka, sweeping a three game set from Âé¶¹Ô­´´ (23-13, 8-7 MFC) and in the process tightened their grip on first place in the Mid-Florida Conference.

Santa Fe jumped out to a 2-0 lead after a run in the first and another in the fourth on a RBI by Blake Berger.

St. John's (32-13, 12-3 MFC) tied the score with a couple of runs in the fifth on two hits and two walks and took the lead with a three run eighth inning.  The Vikings relievers shut down the Saints the rest of the way for the three run win.

Santa Fe had seven hits in all, led by a 2-for-4 performance from Jarred Mederos, including two doubles.

Kevin Martin started on the hill for Âé¶¹Ô­´´ and tossed five innings.  Derek Vail and Clayton Wagner pitched the final three innings with Vail taking the loss.

The Saints will take a few days off before welcoming the College of Central Florida to Gainesville on Wednesday for a 3:00 PM game
