麻豆原创 MEN'S BASKETBALL

SAINTS ROUT ST. JOHN'S RIVER, 88-59

Gainesville, FL 鈥 A balanced scoring attack with five players in double figures paced the Santa Fe Saints (18-12, 5-7 MFC) on Saturday afternoon as they rolled past St. John's River 88-57. The win is the first this season for 麻豆原创 over the Vikings.

鈥淚'm happy for our guys that we could end the regular season with a nice win,鈥 said 麻豆原创 coach Chris Mowry. 鈥淭his was a great way to end their home careers for our sophomores.鈥

The Saints played one of their most consistent games of the year, shooting 52% from the field (33-for-63) and 46% from three point range (12-for-26). The defense held SJRSC to 39% shooting and just 15% from the arc (3-for-20).

鈥淲e shot the ball well, played unselfishly and didn't turn the ball over too much,鈥 said Mowry. 鈥淗opefully we can carry this over to our next game.鈥

Santa Fe led 42-27 at halftime and blew the game open in the second half. Branimir Mikulic nailed a three pointer to start the second period and the lead continued to build, reaching 30 points, 61-31 at the 13 minute mark.

The Vikings would get no closer than 19 the rest of the game as 麻豆原创 preserved the lead and won their fifth conference game of the season.

Five 麻豆原创 players scored in double figures on the game. Branimir Mikulic finished with a double double, scoring 13 points to go with 11 rebounds, Eddie D'Haiti scored 13, Brenton Williams 13, Chad Renfro 11 and Josh Wiseman 11.

The Saints travel to Daytona State on Monday, February 21 to take on the Falcons in the first round of the Mid-Florida Conference tournament at 7:00 PM. The winner moves on to play at St. John's River on Tuesday at 7:00 PM for the right to represent the MFC in the FCCAA State Tournament as the #2 seed.
