Douglas, GA – The FCCAA #2/NJCAA #25 Santa Fe Saints (2-1) traveled to Georgia on Sunday afternoon and split a double header with South Georgia College, losing the first seven inning game 4-2 and winning game two, also seven innings, 4-0.

Ken Wise (0-1) started on the mound for Â鶹ԭ´´ in game one and pitched five innings, giving up two runs on six hits.  He struck out six and walked none.

The Saints trailed 4-0 going into the top of the seventh and made things exciting by scoring two runs on a Jeff Moyer double and a Nolan Malone single, but couldn’t manage any more runs.  Moyer finished the game 2-for-3 and five other Saints had one hit each.

Morgan McKinney (1-0) stifled South Georgia in the second game, pitching five shutout inning, allowing only one hit to go with seven strikeouts.  Kevin Welborn and Corey Turner each pitched a scoreless inning in relief.

Austin Lawrence got the scoring going for Â鶹ԭ´´ in the second inning when he knocked in Ricky Claudio, who had doubled, with an RBI single.  In the third, TJ Spina led things off with a single and stole second.  Moyer followed with a single to give the Saints a two run lead.

Mike Miranda provided some insurance runs in the sixth when he hit a two run homerun, his second of the year, scoring Joe Clouse.  Miranda now has six RBI in three games.

Clouse was 2-for-4 in game two and Spina, Moyer, Miranda, Claudio and Miranda had one hit a piece.

Santa Fe’s next game will be on the road against Polk State College on February 3 at 5:00pm.
